Cambodians In Malaysia For Free Heart Surgery (April 20, 2000)

Three Cambodian children from Angkor Hospital for Children arrived in Malaysia Tuesday to undergo free heart surgery under a charitable project, said Roy Fenn, an administrator at the hospital. The girls will undergo surgery at the private Penang Adventist Hospital thanks to the hospital, Rotary Club International, the Adventist Development and Relief Agency and Malaysian Airlines. The girls, aged tow, five and seven, are the first of 18 Cambodian children who will be flown to Penang for various operations to correct heart defects in the next two months. The children, who are mostly from rural villages, will be able to lead normal lives after the surgeries, Fenn said.
