Bringing Cheer To Cambodian Mothers (September 4, 2001)

PENANG Parkroyal Resort in Batu Ferringhi recently paid tribute to four Cambodian mothers for their love and sacrifices at Penang Adventist Hospital.

The mothers, Chun Mom, Such Samphors, Mao Phorn and Ing Meuy, were surprised by the reception of the resort and hospital staff members.

The resort’s public relations manager, Christina Tan, said the main concern of the mothers were the health of their children, who had undergone corrective heart surgery at the hospital.

"Realising the mother’s predicament and what they had to go through, the resort decided to cheer them up," said Tan.

Tan and her coordinator Elly Lee jointly presented bouquets of flowers, clothings and toys for their children to the mothers.

A cake was also presented.

The children Pun Chea, nine months; Rean Thavleak, five; Van Sonoy, nine and Lam Phay, 13 are among 45 Cambodians beneficiary of the "Gift Of Life 2" programme.

The programme was conducted by Rotary International, in collaboration with Adventist Hospital, and involved bringing in children from poor countries for heart surgery.
