Wishing Well Project Lauched At Gurney Plaza (January 3, 2002)

PENANG, Wed: The Wishing Well Project, a joint effort between the Penang Adventist Hospital and the Rotary Club of Penang, was launched at the Gurney Plaza on Monday.

Donations collected from these “wells” will go to help children in need of corrective heart surgery under the hospital’s Gift Of life programme.

The wells, which come in two sizes are imported from the US, were donated by Southern Bank, which bought 56 wells at a cost of RM 20,000. One was placed in Komtar recently.

More than 230 children and adults have benefited from the hospital’s Heart Patients’ Fund since its inception in 1988. With 70 children receiving help from its Gift Of Life programme.

Some 2.4 million has been disbursed so far to those unable to meet the cost of corrective surgery.
