Wong Keng Fei Fund

Wong Keng Fei
Fund

Nine years ago, the plight of a blue boy touched the hearts of thousands of caring Malaysians, and scores of others in neighbouring countries.

Individuals and firms, moved by the boy's much publicised plight, donated generously, many anonymously, to help him.

As fate would have it, the donations, totalling a whopping $750,000 could not save the boy, Wong Keng Fei, who had suffered from a cardiac condition known as transposition of great arteries (TGA) and ventricular septal defect (VSD) since birth.

Keng Fei died on 25 July 1995 leaving much of the money raised, unspent, but scores of children who suffered from congenital heart defects have benefited from his legacy.

The Wong Keng Fei Fund, was established following Keng Fei's death following his mother, Madam Lim Kim Hong's wish that the donations collected be channeled to help other who suffer the plight of her beloved Keng Fei.

The fund is run by a board of trustees chaired by MCA public service and complaints department chief Micheal Chong with representatives of various newspapers as its members.
