The Celebrity Stroll 2006: 20th Century Classic Gala
A Classic Night to Celebrate Life
Themed 20th Century Classic Gala, the Celebrity Stroll 2006 was a classic event held in
Hotel Equatorial on the evening of 12 November 2006, which raised over RM100, 000 for
the Penang Adventist Hospitals Dr J Earl Gardner Fund. The theme was also significant
with the beginning of the hospitals mission that was started by Dr Gardner in the 1920s.
Today, we have celebrities, hospital patrons and beneficiaries walking on the runway to
raise funds through the Dr J Earl Gardner Fund. There is nothing more meaningful to
have people from all walks of life to come together for the same cause, commented the
Vice-Organizing Chairman, YB Ng Fook On.
Joining the list of celebrities were the events hosts, Adrian Seet and Hoong Jia Hui, a
nd Juwita Suwito, an award winning pop-folk vocalist and Malaysian Idols vocal coach,
who flew all the way from Kuala Lumpur to help support the event. Juwita Suwito captivated
the audience with her powerful performance.
The finale to the whole evening was the fashion show and celebrity stroll. In a
uniquely choreographed fashion show reminiscing the past with Charleston and P.
Ramlee eras, guests were feted with five elegant collections of Mondele Couture,
matched with beautiful and exclusive jewellery from Amee Philips.
Celebrities on the catwalk include Angel Yeoh, Alan Yun, Chef Ismail,
Peng Peng, Steve Yap, Yang Wei Hung, Mabel Ng and Danielle Khor, who donated
their time and effort for this cause. The special guests on the catwalk were
Lim Mei Huey, the hospital board member and Dato Teddric Jon Mohr, the hospitals
President/CEO while little angels include three past beneficiaries of the hospital,
namely Hepshibah D/o Jeyabalan, Thay Win d/o Tont and Khaw See Mun and daughters
of the sponsors and hospital patrons.
Guests also won attractive raffle draw prizes with any purchase of raffle
tickets for only RM50 each. A total of over RM10, 000 worth of raffle
tickets were sold that night. The night ended with a performance by
Yang Wei Hung as all the guests joined in the celebration.
It was indeed a night to remember.
The function was graced by State Executive Councillor, Dato Dr Teng Hock Nan,
Organizing Chairman, YB Lai Chew Hock, Vice-Organizing Chairman, YB Ng Fook On,
President/CEO, Dato Teddric Jon Mohr, Managing Director of Pensonic Holdings,
Dixon and his spouse Iris Chew, International Business Development and Sales Director
of Cardinal Health, Walt Ling and his spouse and Dr Alfred Charles Poey, VP for Medical Affairs.
