Penang Adventist Hospital celebrated its 80th year, riding in special style amongst 50 other gaily decorated trishaws December 12 at the "Maila…Naik Beca" (Let's ride a trishaw) state trishaw parade competition held in conjunction with Pesta Pulau Pinang 2004.

President and Chief Executive Officer Teddric Jon Mohr was chauffeured in the trishaw throughout the parade, accompanied by Hepshibah a/p Jeyabalan, a beneficiary of the Heart Patients' Fund who also celebrated her birthday on Dec 14.

The trishaw was also accompanied by nurses, nursing students and support staff who gave a roaring cheer at the judging area. Hospital officers and executives from various departments became cookie distributors, passing out freshly-baked oatmeal cookies made specially by the Adventist Bakery to bystanders.

"We wanted to do something special for our birthday this year," said Mohr. "What better way than to be part of a special light up along the streets of Penang with other trishaws?"

The purpose of the hospital participating in the parade was fourfold: to celebrate the hospital's 80th birthday (coincidentally also celebrated on December 12); to garner team spirit amongst the staff from various departments; to play a part and help refurbish the trishaws in Penang; and to let the staff have a fun time (which we all did)!

The PAH trishaw placed ninth, a bonus for the trishaw team.
