My Story of Transformation

by Mr. Colin Jack Gaines (Post CABG)

A daunting prospect and an immediate decision to be made. That was my predicament when informed another angioplasty (I already had two) was not possible this time. Of course, I followed the advice of the cardiologist and my operation took place a few days later. To my amazement, less than one week after surgery, I was discharged from hospital to continue my recovery at home.

With each new day, I could not only feel the benefits, but also sense a new me emerging, more than ready to continue life in a much healthier state than I was before the operation. The prospect of this new lease of life has inspired me to make a few changes. As a result, my life is much improved and I look forward with enthusiasm to each new day.

All of this has been made possible, by the superb care provided by PAH. The aftercare programme of cardiac rehabilitation is a fine example of what a caring institution is all about. Further long-term association through Mended Hearts will, I'm sure, assist patients particularly, by maintaining a strong link to the hospital, thereby providing further encouragement to continue living life to the full.

The daunting prospect I started with was soon transformed into a fresh look at life, anticipating all the joys ahead. Mended Hearts and all it stands for, will provide a means for further inspiration to all who take part. As one who has benefited enormously from the skill and dedication of everyone involved, may I encourage you to help yourself to this excellent resource, so that you too may be inspired to experience all our new lives have to offer.
