Inpatient Admission
To ensure that everything goes smoothly during your admission to
Penang Adventist Hospital, please review the following:
Admission,
Financial Arrangements,
Insurance Policy,
Discharge from Hospital,
Smoking and Alcohol and
Valuables.
Admission
Please bring with you the following documents to facilitate a
proper, expedient admission:
- Malaysian identity card (NRIC)
- Birth certificate if under 12 years old
- Passport if not a Malaysian citizen
- Your doctor's letter and guarantee letter / deposit for self-pay
- PAH registration card / appointment card
Please be punctual for the admission appointment. The appointment time is arranged
so that ample time is given for proper preparation to facilitate better care.
When you arrive, please check in with the receptionist at the entrance lobby. The
admitting staff will then complete your registration, confirm your room assignment
and finalize the financial arrangements. After you have been admitted, our staff
will escort you to your room.
In urgent cases, you may be admitted directly to your room, with admission
arrangements attended to when convenient. In such a case, assistance from your
next-of-kin or relative would be appreciated.
Financial Arrangements
You will be expected to pay a deposit based on your anticipated expenses on your admission.
This will be deducted from your final statement when you leave the hospital. Exceptions
must be arranged with the Patients Business Office.
Hospital bills are due and payable at the time of discharge. Patients confined for long
periods will receive weekly statements. Payment for special arrangements should be discussed
with the Patients Business Manager on the ground (1st floor).
Charges for the treatment and medicine ordered during the 24 hours preceding discharge may
not be received at the Accounting Office in time to appear on your bill before you leave the
hospital. In this case, you will be billed at a later period.
If surgery is scheduled, the Patients Business Office will make an estimated cost.
This amount is to be paid prior to surgery.
You may settle your bills by cash, cheque or credit card. All cheques should be crossed and
made payable to 'Adventist Hospital & Clinic Services (M)'. Amex, Diners, Mastercard and Visa credit
cards are accepted.
Please note that all payment must be made at the cashier's office. Please do not pay anybody
soliciting payment for your account in the wards or in the rooms. Also, do not accept
the offer of anybody whom you do not know to settle your payment on your behalf.
If in doubt, please inform the nurse who will make arrangements with the Patients
Business Office for you.
Insurance Policy
You will be required to settle your own bill before you leave the hospital even if
you have an insurance policy. You can claim from your insurance company at a later period.
To aid you in this procedure, we will assist you in completing your insurance
claim forms. If your employing organization (that has an existing credit facility
with us) is settling your account, please bring the letter of guarantee. If we do
not have this letter, you will be required to settle your own account. Kindly check
with the Patients Business Office on the ground (1st) floor whether your employing
organization is listed on our credit facility.
Discharge from Hospital
Discharge hours are between 11:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. from Sundays to Fridays.
Room charges are based on room rates irrespective of the time of admission
or length of stay for the day. Kindly be advised that an extra full day's
rate will be charged if you vacate your room after 3:00 p.m. on the day of discharge.
If you want to be discharged on a Saturday or on a Public Holiday, we would
be obliged if you could kindly make arrangements to settle your bill on the previous day.
All accounts must be settled before you are discharged from the hospital.
Patients with guarantee letters from their employers need not settle their own bill.
Before you leave the hospital, a departure permit is required from the Cashier's Office,
which is to be given to the nurse.
Smoking and Alcohol
Smoking and the consumption of alcohol on the hospital's premises
is prohibited. These are detrimental to a person's good health. Smoking is one
of the great hazards in a hospital where many people are helpless and
inflammable materials are used.
Valuables
When possible, all valuables should be left at home. Penang
Adventist Hospital does not assume any responsibility for valuables that you
bring with you.
