Individualized Laser Vision Correction
Farsightedness / Nearsightedness / Astigmatism
|
What is IntraLasik?
IntraLASIK is a 100% blade free and individualized laser vision correction. This procedure is done in 2 simple steps. The 1st step of the IntraLASIK procedure uses the Intralase FS laser to create a thin corneal flap. Generating up to 60,000 pulses per second, these pulses will form millions of microscopic bubbles, which are connected to form the corneal flap. In the 2nd step, the surgeon then lifts the flap to allow for the Advanced CustomVue treatment using the VISX technology. When the treatment is complete, the flap is repositioned to its original condition and vision will gradually progress within the next few days.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Who should go for the IntraLASIK procedure?
IntraLASIK is a laser vision correction for those with shortsightedness (myopia), longsightedness (hyperopia) and astigmatism. This procedure is performed on those who wish to decrease their dependence on glasses and contact lens.
- I am currently wearing glasses for reading. Am I a suitable candidate?
An option for those wearing reading glasses is to go for monovision laser vision correction. Monovision IntraLASIK produces monovision correction in shortsightedness (myopic) adults, with or without an abnormal curve of the cornea (astigmatism), ages 40 years old and above with presbyopia.
- Does the IntraLASIK procedure hurts?
There is almost no pain involved during the procedure, but many patients find the procedure to be slightly uncomfortable. Anesthetic drops are used to numb the eye just before surgery begins and patients may be given a mild sedative to relax. After the procedure, the eye may feel a foreign body sensation or slight irritation for a few hours, like a grain of sand in your eye, but most patients are very comfortable shortly thereafter.
- Will I be able to see immediately after the procedure?
Generally, a patient will be able to see immediately results after the procedure. Vision will improve over the next few weeks (although in certain cases, vision may further increase over the next few months), assuming that no additional vision correction is needed.
- How long does the procedure take and when can I get back to work?
The actual laser vision correction only takes a few seconds, however preparation before the procedure is required. Patients are usually expected to stay with us for at least 1 ½ hours to 2 hours. This procedure is done as an out-patient basis and usually a patient will be able to get back to work on the next day.
