Neuro-Behavioural Medicine

Established in 2002, this unit provides diagnostic and management expertise in the field of neuropsychiatry. This includes a wide array of disorders from delirium, dementia and alcohol and drug abuse to anxiety disorders, depression, psychoses, personality disorders and childhood disorders like autism, attention deficit disorders and frank behavioural problems and medico-legal cases, mainly those associated with head injuries, and detailed cognitive assessments.

Daily Outpatient consultation and follow-ups
Inpatient admissions in a secure ward for further investigations and management of anxiety, depression, schizophrenia and organic-related and post-stroke problems
Alcohol and drug detoxifications in a structured programme
Liaison work with related specialities and up-to-date pharmacotherapy
Psychotherapies including crises intervention, supportive psychotherapy, brief focal psychotherapy, behaviour therapies and modification and marital therapy
One of the centres in Malaysia with best state-of-the-art equipment for electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) for severe cases
