Urology
Urology is a subspecialty dealing with a wider spectrum of diseases or malfunctions affecting the genitourinary tract which includes kidney, ureter, bladder, urethra and genitals.
Certain common urological conditions may manifest as
- Genitourinary tract obstruction (i.e. phimosis, hydronephrosis)
- Genitourinary tract infection (i.e. prostatitis, cystitis)
- Genitourinary tract malformation (i.e. vesico-ureteric reflux, hypospadias)
- Genitourinary tract growth (i.e. bladder cancer, kidney cancer)
- Voiding problem (i.e. prostate enlargement, stress incontinence,
neurogenic bladder)
- Erectile dysfunction
- Male infertility
- Scrotal disorders (i.e. hydrocele, varicele, orchitis, testicular cancer)
Generally these conditions would either affect the quality of life adversely or
pose as a threat to life due to the malignant process.
The Urology Department is well-equipped with modern facilities and well-trained staff to
help you.

Day Surgery
Under certain circumstances it is more prudent to undergo day-care surgery for some
uncomplicated urological procedures. Patients would receive sufficient monitoring and
appropriate post-operative care by attending nurses at the recovery area until full
recuperation.
Outpatient Urology Clinic
After registration, all patients with urological problems would be examined and assessed
by the consultant urologist. Relevant investigations like urine or blood tests, ultrasound
scanning, x-rays, etc., would be undertaken to determine the diagnosis. Following
diagnosis, appropriate treatment advice would be discussed with the patients.
Urology Inpatient Service
Every patient referred for urology consultation would receive appropriate attention.
Relevant investigation and treatment would be implemented in liaison with the attending
physician. Upon discharge, timely follow-up would be scheduled at the urology clinic to
review patient's progress.
